I finished giving my 5-year-old sister a full manicure when she looks down at my unpainted nails, “I want to do your nails now” she says and it went a little something like this.
I gave her a bunch of tools including:
- A new nail file
- Jamberry nail buffer
- Almond oil cuticle pen
- 2 cotton swabs
- 2 cotton balls
- 2 alcohol pads
- A sheet of tip stickers
- A small set of beads
- A fan brush
- 2 smaller brushes
- A double sided dotting tool
This was her process for doing my nails
She takes the almond oil pen and rubs it all over all of my nails, however right after that she takes a cotton swab and wipes away the almond oil. She takes the file and begins to file my nails. She actually did a fairly decent job at filling. She then pretends to buff my nails however since my nails are so weak it started to hurt and I had to stop her. After that, she rubs off my nails with the cuticle pusher not really knowing what she is doing. She was so lost after that and thought that she needed to use everything that she was given. She takes the cotton swab and starts to clean out underneath my nails. And now she starts painting.
She chose 5 different polishes:
- Sally Girl Canary
- China Glaze Mix and Mingle
- Sally Girl Epic
- Bitsy Knick Knack
- Secret Lace Hot Pink w/glitter
She tosses bits of each color onto my nails and then realizes she had not touched the dotting tool or brushes, but my nails were all covered. She then takes NYC Fuchsia Shock Creme and coats the end of the dotting tool with it. She pressed down too hard and smushes the half dri9ed polish leaving it a complete disaster. She then tries to grab a top coat but that’s where I cut her off.
Here are some pics from the process (the bottom right is the final product):

Also at some point this weekend I will hopefully be getting social media for this blog. (Note: Please do not request to follow my personal account it is friends and family only)
January 2nd, 2017 a day of tragic loss.
Ok, now its story time, once upon a time my sister asked me to paint her nails. She picks one of my favorites blues off the rack. I file, trim and apply a base coat, I reach over for the nail polish. I tap it on my palm a few times like I do before opening every bottle and The paint is thick like one of those weird whipped yogurt things. I toss some thinner in it and shake it back up thinking nothing of it. It looks fine so I go on and finish her nails. Before I apply the top coat I have her sit with the heater for a solid 10 minutes mostly because I was busy choosing my color for that day. I take out my favorite glossy top coat and put it on her nails. She again sits for 10ish minutes while I remove my current nail polish. I go to check on he nails and when I touch the polish its all thick again. I didn’t check it before the to coat because I wasn’t paying attention. Then I started to get worried and it turns out nail polish can expire! I think back I had gotten it probably 15 months ago. The date on the back says it usually lasts 1 year. After an hour or so of testing It turns out most of my nail polish was no good. I had to throw so many away and now me and my sister joke about that day referring to is as the nail polish funeral.
Welcome to my nail blog. On this page you will find many different items that may or may not be of use to you. I have a nail polish addiction however I am on a very strict budget due to the fact that I am broke. I have found loopholes to get me through and I hope you find them helpful. Enjoy!
